Thank You My Divinely Designed Body
Come into this Now moment where you are safe and supported. Settle yourself into a relaxed and comfortable position. Breathe and feel.
Where does your attention go when you focus your awareness inward? What do you notice? Do you notice that you are holding tight or tensing your muscles anywhere? Is there pain anywhere in your body? Is your heart beating fast or slow? Is there tension in your jaw, in your face? What’s your digestive system doing?
We rarely take the time to tune in and give our loving attention to ourselves in this way. It is so easy to get caught up and swept away by the intense energies that surround us. As consciousness continues to evolve within all of creation, there is a massive purge of dysfunctional energies within the energetic matrix. We cannot help but to absorb these energies, to one degree or another, into our own personal energy system. Most of these energies are not ours but once they enter our field it surely feels personal and we spend a lot of time trying to figure out “what the hell is wrong with me?!” Good news - nothing is wrong with you.
It is now our responsibility to learn to manage our personal field. This has everything to do with your mental and physical health. We don’t notice a lot of this during the day when we are flowing in the busyness of daily life, but I’m pretty sure that we have all felt the undercurrent of this massive shift at 3am when we find ourselves wide awake and vibrating. Sometimes it can be so intense as to make one feel that they are on the edge of panic and sanity itself hangs in the balance! It is at these times that learning to breathe and soothe our bodies will prove invaluable.
So, what do you notice when you turn your awareness inward? As always, start by deepening your breath. Breathe deeply into your abdomen. Picture your diaphragm expanding downward giving your digestive system a gentle massage. Slowly release the breath and see your diaphragm raising back up pushing on the lungs to expel any stale or stagnant air. Continue to breathe in this way for as long as feels good.
Just doing this can be a challenge because it requires us to slow way down, withdraw our attention from the external world and listen with all of our senses. Breathing in this way has a calming effect on our agitated nervous system. It slows the pace of the racing thoughts. The thoughts will of course always be there, but now you have created space that allows them to move through without hooking your attention and dragging you this way and that.
When you are ready, on your next inhale, breathe in light and direct it all the way down into both your feet - your toes - the ball and arches - your heels and your ankles. Sense the increased energy in your feet just because you have focused your loving attention on them. Thank them for all that they do for you. We can ‘stand on our own two feet’, walk toward, walk away, we can balance on our feet, run, dance, reach on tip-toes, feel the earth beneath our feet, etc., etc. Send love and gratitude to your feet.
Move your attention into your lower legs. See white light filling your shins and calves dissolving any tension. Allow this healing light to penetrate into the muscles and the bones. Allow your attention to linger here and sense this subtle energy.
Bring the light up into both knees - the knee joint - the knee cap. Glorious knees that allow us to walk, bend, kneel, run, curl up, jump, etc., etc., etc. Thank you my knees.
Flowing up into the upper legs, healing light spilling into your inner thighs and outer thighs. Your loving healing attention permeating the femurs and strengthening them. Thank you my legs for carrying me wherever I wish to go. Thank you for letting me dance, and swim, and wrap myself around my lover. I surely do not know what I would do without you!
Move the breath of life into the pelvic area as we fill our reproductive organs, waking up our creative forces. Breathe the light into your digestive system and all of your internal organs. As you continue to breathe deeply, once again notice the diaphragm giving a gentle massage to all of the organs in your abdominal area. Thank these vital organs for their life-giving service. They carry out millions of life-giving processes with precise order. We never have to think about circulating our blood, digesting our food, releasing toxins from our body, etc., etc. Thank you each individual system that sustains my life just under my conscious awareness so I don’t even have to think about it.
On your next exhale, bring your attention to the diaphragm pushing up into your lungs helping them to cleanse themselves of old stagnant air. The ribcage and the sternum are masters at protecting our lungs and our heart. Breathe and feel your lungs expand and contract taking in oxygen and life force energy, and expelling unnecessary carbon dioxide. Your heart beats in time with the rhythm of the cosmos. Our heart is a portal to our soul. It is truly magical! Give thanks to these organs that keep us connected to our Divinity.
The next time you inhale watch and feel how your clavicles rise up and then settle back down on the exhale. Breathe light into your shoulder joints and let go of any holding. Stay here and continue breathing until you feel a softening and a letting go. Take as long as you like.
Breathe in light and on the exhale send this life-giving healing energy down both arms into your hands. Send waves of loving energy through your arms and into your hands. Linger here in your hands. Consider all the myriad ways your hands have served you. My beloved hands, thank you for serving me while I play in the realm of form. With you I can reach out, bring in, touch, caress, protect, write, express, play music, lend a helping hand, pray, etc., etc., etc. Thank you my beloved hands.
Expand your awareness into your back and notice how the bones of the spine rise up on the inhale and float back down on the exhale as all the muscles around it release. Thank your body for supporting you with a strong backbone.
Travel up your back into your cervical spine. Place your attention inside your neck and throat. Breathe your throat open, relax your jaw. Breathe in light and allow it to penetrate through the bones of your skull deep into your brain stimulating the pineal and pituitary glands. Breathe and feel this expansion. Reflect upon the pleasure and the insights that your brain, eyes, ears, nose and throat have given you. Thank you body for my ability to sense, feel, and create.
Allow your breathing to return to its own rhythm. Feel the energy pulsing through your entire body. Rest in this silent sanctuary. You are feeling the presence of your soul.
Say Silently
I AM at Peace, I AM at Peace, I AM at Peace
Stay here as long as it feels nourishing. When you are ready, open your eyes and return to your full waking consciousness. ( it is useful to record this for yourself so that you can fully immerse yourself in this practice.)
